Wash-out in T.O.

Just when you thought it might be okay to start Vesa Toskala in your fantasy pool ...

Cue the boo birds.

Ray's not much better.

But clearly, the Leafs' biggest problem is defense. *rolls eyes.*

Booooooo! That was painful to watch, even if through the magic of DVR the game was about an hour long.

It looked like it was over after 14 minutes to me, Rob.

5 players getting their first goals of the year to boot.

But if you're an any-team-but-the-Leafs fan, it was awesome to watch.

Not sure what is worse... losing 7-1 at home, or watching Mick Mcgeough screw you out of a win at home...

I'm torn between hoping the Leafs play well enough so that they can miss the playoffs on the last day of the season, or get blown out every home game. Which one rips out the hearts of Leafs fans more?

If you actually thought Toskala (or Raycroft) were actually safe to start in your pool - we have a spot open for you in ours!

I don't think you want me in your pool

At least Leaf fans got a break from watching all Crosby all the time and got to see Ovechkin for a change.

1) You know its NOT a good night for the leafs when Bradley, Sutherby, and Pettinger score in the same game! That may never happen again in our life times. LOL
2) May turn out to be a bad thing for the Caps as the coaching staff may actually think that Sutherby and Bradley are good.

On the bright side, the Leafs are 9-1-1 after a loss of 5 or more goals so look out New Jersey!

Anonymous1 - It's all heart renderingly painful all of the time so just wish that the Leafs play a season every year and you won't be disappointed.

nebcanuck - The Leafs' biggest problem is defensive coverage. It's a team-wide pandemic.

Toskala and Raycroft have actually been playing pretty well this year, certainly much better than Raycroft and Aubin last year, but when so many goals come from tap-ins, multiple rebounds, and absolutely mind-boggling defensive breakdowns there isn't much a goalie can do.

I'll tell you what's most painful for a leafs fan:
Being at a family gathering with your Fiance's family, all of whom hate the Leafs, watching the Leafs/Hawks game, all proud your boys are up 3-1, and then the absolute, complete breakdown of the Leafs... and getting goaded by the future in-laws.
That's what's painful for Leafs fans.

Although I've gotta say, the Islanders kicking us out on a shootout win the last day of the season last year was pretty bad, too.

Karina, I noticed it said 'Fiance' and 'Future In-Laws' in your post.

The simple solution would be to find a better match in Leafs Nation.

One last Maple Leaf note:
Toronto is tied with Carolina for the league lead with 47 goals....
Carolina, 17 pts in 12 games, leading the Southeast. (3rd overall)
Toronto, 13 pts in 13 games, 3rd in the Northeast. (3 way tie for 9th or 12th)
The difference is goal differential, grasshopper:
Carolina is plus 16
Toronto is minus 5
and
Don't give me any of that "well, the goaltending....." crap either. Both Toskala and Raycoft are
capable and brilliant at times. Either one would be welcome on my team. The Toronto organization has ruined the career of many goaltenders.
