In the blog show

Things might be fairly slow here the next few days, as some activity behind the scenes is going to tie me up a bit.

One of the things we're working on in the newsroom is continuing to turn the Saturday edition of Globe Sports into a more feature-based section, something that will focus this week on the NHL entry draft. Measuring draft success is tricky business, but we're going to try and do just that.

It also looks like a solid bet that I'll be on Hockey Night in Canada tomorrow as part of a piece Elliotte Friedman and company are putting together on bloggers. The CBC crew was in Washington on Wednesday night and talked to many of Ted Leonsis's new disciples there, something that promises to make for an interesting segment.

And that just may be as mainstream as blogs can go.

For readers outside of Canada, or those who will miss Saturday's show, it will be available online sometime after the initial broadcast.

So are you going to ask Don Cherry if you can borrow a suit?

That is awesome James!

Check out The Falconer at http://thrasherstalons.blogspot.com/ who tried to quantify the Thrashers' drafting record over the past few seasons during the off-season.

I agree with Forechecker, but instead of asking, you should buy your own, and then Don will be talking about how classy you and Emery can be.

On the topic of measuring draft success:

I did a post a few years back measuring the draft success of all NHL teams based on the average number of games played per draftee.

(originally posted on "On the Wings" blog)

I'm sure there are better ways to measure draft success, but that was the statistic I chose.

Also, here's a link to an interesting McMaster University paper on the topic of draft success (pdf):

Hockey Night in Canada?

Seriously though, any idea if your segment is on the 2pm, 7pm, or 10pm game?
