Poking fun at Luongo

I thought this was a little interesting:
The Stars fell short in large part because of Canucks netminder Roberto Luongo, who was given some added motivation prior to the game when Turco and Mike Smith took a shot at the size of Luongo's equipment.

During Thursday's morning skate, the Dallas netminders wore sizeable cardboard flaps on the sides of their pads with Luongo's No. 1 scribbled on them. It was a clear message they feel Luongo's pads are too big.

"(Equipment size) was reduced last year and this year they made them smaller," a terse Luongo said after his 33-save performance. "So it's not an issue and I don't want to talk about it anymore."
Up until this point, it'd seemed that goaltenders were all pretty united in their feelings about equipment size, but Turco and Smith obviously believe Luongo has some sort of an advantage due to his padding.

And I believe Turco's on the NHL's competition committee.
"We were just conducting an experiment," Turco said about the makeshift flaps on the Dallas goalies. "You're always looking to get better.

"I was really serious because I don't like the (suggested) idea of larger nets. We're looking at a few ways so we don't have to have larger nets."
Grant Kerr had a story on this yesterday afternoon.

Yeah, Roberto Luongo is one of if not the best goalies in the world because of a small flap above his knee.

Poor Roberto. Is he going to retire now that someone questioned his equipment size?

They should be going after Giguere. No way his equipment is legal.

I think that a new rule should be that the pads are proportional to the goaltender's body size. You wouldn't want Luongo using pads that could potentially fit a junior mite.
