Belak v. Parros

Some bad blood made its way into the game in the second period, thanks to a couple of hits by the Maple Leafs. The first was at 3:04 by enforcer Wade Belak, who had a knee-on-knee hit with fellow tough guy George Parros. This prompted the Duck to engage Belak in a fight. Parros lost, then had to leave the game because of a knee injury.

Yes, Flyers fans, that was a knee by Belak. If he gets suspended/fined he'll deserve it.

And yes, that was a late punch as Parros was on his way down. Of course you'll note that no linesmen were holding anyone's arms and both players had actually been, you know, fighting.

That should keep the poor persecuted Flyers fans from complaining too much.

I loved the knee to get the fight started and think that the punch on the way down was not enough. If you are going to act tough and grow a porn 'stache you have to expect someone to come after you.

I love fighting in hockey, but there is a code. Hitting someone when they're on the ice is weak.

The knee by Belak to start it was B.S. too....

Maybe that sort of punch was the kind that Flyers fans were referring to when they said that late punches happen all of the time because someone throwing one last punch as their opponent goes down does happen all of the time.

Still dirty though...

Now, that's how you win a fight - get in the first low blow. Parros couldn't put any weight on his back leg.

Excellent "enforcement" by Belak.

Now I'm not always clear on the "code" - does this mean that the next time he plays Anaheim, Belak is going to have to fight?

Given the time frame, Parros's knee should be good again, so it's possible. If not, May will probably be willing to take care of him. Actually, I'm surprised he didn't do exactly that once the game was comfortably in hand.

Toronto fans who were upset about Downie, where are you now?

And Carlo, I hope you have something to say about Belak's knee on knee, given that you called out Jim Dowd of all people for apparently taking you out.

*crickets chirping*

Oh yeah, I forgot that you're a bunch of obnoxious hypocrites.

Calling for Belak's suspension for kneeing. Did you bother to read the first commenter before posting your whine?

you're a bunch of obnoxious hypocrites

That hurts, coming from an expert.

May's been out with a broken foot for the past few weeks. Ironic that the Ducks were short a fighter on their bench; it's been quite a while since that happened.

Adam C-- I read the first comment. Did you? Or is your reading comprehension lacking?

"If he gets suspended/fined, he'll deserve it."

"If" is a far cry from "OMG LIFETIME BAN ASDKFJAHSKDFJASDJFAHSKDFJ!!!"

That's pretty selective reading S.

"If he gets suspended/fined he'll deserve it" is basically just another way of writing "he should get fined" except I recognize that most of the time the suspensions in the NHL are random and laughable something which seems beyond your grasp.

Shouldn't Flyers fans be here celebrating the late punch? What a bunch of hypocrites.
