A former fourth-round pick who played four years for his hometown Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL, Kennedy had come out of nowhere to have a pretty solid rookie season.
The losses are starting to add up for Pittsburgh, who are now also missing Marc-Andre Fleury, Sidney Crosby, Gary Roberts, Mark Eaton, Adam Hall and Colby Armstrong for varying lengths of time. Only Florida, Chicago and Boston have more players on injured reserve at the moment.
