Typical Canadian journalist.
Pretty tough call between this one and Toews' beauty a couple months back for Chicago. Toews' was smoother, but Nash had to juke more guys in a shorter period of time.
I don't know... if that's the way Ballard plays all one-on-ones then I could probably deke him.
Amazing goal, but "Holy Moly"? Yeesh.
When you consider the circumstances, I might give this one the edge over Toews' beauty. Nash took a penalty earlier that night when the BJ's were up 3-2, and Phoenix tied it on the ensuing PP. This goal broke a 3-3 tie in the final minute, in a game featuring two teams battling hard for a playoff spot.
And Paul, the great players always have the ability to make otherwise competent blueliners panic and play them incorrectly. If that was Jason Chimera, the D would have forced him to take an outside shot.
Toews still gets my vote, only because this dipsy-dangle-doodle stuff is a lot harder to pull off at high speed. Nash also kinda lost the puck when Bryz tried the poke check.
Kostitsyn's goal against the Thrashers last night was also a real beaut, probably in this year's top 15 so far.
I wasn't that impressed.

How can we determined the goal of the year BEFORE THE YEAR IS OVER!!111!!!!!!!!
I kid, only because Nash made him look so silly. Ass-first and flailing blindly... it looks even funnier in slow motion.
Tellqvist was in goal, not Bryzgalov... I'd have to go with Toews' goal on smoothness, the insane toe drag and the clean deke on Theodore. Still though, great work by Nash at such a clutch moment!

It's true. My choice will be Anze Kopitar's spectacular goal that, while it doesn't harm him physically, will eventually end Marty Turco's career. You'll know which one I'm talking about.
What about Kovalchuk's?

Good point. The goal Kristian Huselius will score next month will be epic...
*Yawn*
Why all the fuss? It was a pretty ordinary goal, really, and he almost blew it at the end. I scored two even better than this the other night in my beer league.
Nash, and other "stars" are totally overrated, IMHO. I'm certain I could take him in a contest of this kind.

For those wondering if Ballard plays D this way - nope, but this time he did.
For those wondering if Derek Morris plays D this way - nope, but this time he did.
Goal of the year? Not sure, but it should be on some sort of list when April rolls around. Nash had the Coyotes number last night, no doubt about that.
After that goal was scored, I stared at my television, while it was switched off for quite awhile. I'm not sure what I was contemplating...
He got lucky at the end, when the goalie poke-checked the puck, and it happened to hit Nash's inner thigh and bounce right back to his stick.
I liked the way Nash seems to applaud hmself at the end. When you get deeply into "THE ZONE" and are able to pull off a goal like that, it isn't until you wake up that you realize the full extent of what your body did while your mind was stopped.

I like Keith Ballard as much as the next Gopher fan, but you always had to pair him with a solid defensive blueliner. Paul Martin and Jordan Leopold were both much more complete players.
