You know, for a guy who gets as much positive press as he does, Rick DiPietro's numbers have never been all that impressive. He currently sits #21 amongst NHL goalies, and his save percentage and GAA are almost identical to those of Toskala and Gerber, two guys who have received no end of grief in their respective cities.
Toskala has received grief? Maybe early on, but for the most part he's been seen as a goalie who has done an admirable job on a bad team. Gerber's stats are skewed from his early success, too. No doubt DiPietro has struggled, but he's still a young goalie. He has the ability to completely dominate a game and there is an aura about him because of it.
Huet has put up some stinkers since Price got called up... last night he was guessing all game long. Montreal is also playing a bit of a high risk/high reward game even strength, perhaps too confident in their offensive prowess. All I know is it's definitely not how they've been taught to play... it's a young team that needs some reigning in.
DiPietro's had a step back this season, but last year had a really terrific campaign. He's still inconsistent, but I'd rank him among the top 10-15 netminders out there.
The Islanders have had quite a few injuries that have hurt their defence.
Did Comrie gets a plus for Hilary Duff?
Just askin'.
Bummer, lilja is our top defenseman now that lidstrom, rafalski, and kronwall are out.
We're screwed, please get better before the playoffs.
