Forsberg's foot a no-go
Peter Forsberg is not coming back to the NHL.It would have been a great story if he could have returned at anywhere near his peak playing potential, as Foppa was one of this generation's greatest players.
Forsberg's agent Don Baizley has begun advising NHL teams that Forsberg doesn't have enough confidence in his wonky foot to commit to a return to the league this season.
It sounds as though he's not ruling out a return next season, but a retirement announcement can't be far off.

It's a shame he won't be coming back, as that would have been one of the most interesting deadline deals: a chance to add a great offensive player while only sacrificing cash. A healthy Forsberg could have pushed a number of teams over the line between those who merely make the playoffs and those who actually have a shot at the cup. Hopefully he'll be able to return next year: it would be too bad if a great career ends this way.
Hall of Fame?
Yes/no?
No question he's a Hall of Famer. First ballot.
I just hope we've heard the last of the endless Forsberg rumours, at least for this year.
How about his numbers vs. the guy he was traded for all those years ago, Eric Lindros ?
760 GP, 372 g 493 a 865 pts, 1.14 ppg
Proj over 82/ 40 g 53 a 93 pts
Playoffs 53 GP 24 g 33 p 57 pts 1.08 ppg
Yes, I know, 2 fewer Stanley Cups and a lot more off-ice drama for the Big E, but the regular season numbers are a interesting comparison.
