Hatcher's pool party

The last I heard of Derian Hatcher, his knee was in rough shape. In fact, he's going to be on the sidelines for quite a while given the rather ugly, recurring injury, and the fact he's had five or six surgeries on the thing.

Here was coach John Stevens earlier this season:
"I can sympathize with some of the stuff Hatch is feeling. When there is fluid in your knee, it feels like pain whenever you push.

"Your muscles aren't strong around the knee, and it makes it vulnerable. When you get that fluid out, you feel like a new person. Obviously, something is causing that fluid to build, and that is what we're hoping to find."
Reports I've seen have said Hatcher's knee is swollen like a cantaloupe, and the muscles around it have all become distorted trying to compensate for the weakness in the knee.

So what on earth is he doing swimming around a giant tank with sharks?

Interesting rehab.

Interesting way to try to shed salary.
Or maybe Hatcher's hoping for some sawtooth surgery.

More seriously, swimming's usually good therapy for pretty much anything that ails you.
