Holy Oilers ownership

I am, uh, in favour of using the Bat-Signal to attract free agents.
— The Dark Knight
With the Oilers blogs being all responsible in their coverage of Daryl Katz buying the team, someone's going to have to fill in the silly.

Here's The Globe and Mail's Al Maki:
He's the billionaire businessman with a thirst for privacy, a gift for philanthropy and a stately manor that cost $24-million to build. And now, Daryl Katz has a new property – the Edmonton Oilers – and a cult following who think he's Batman.
'Daryl Katz is Batman' even has its own group on Facebook, which as we all know speaks to its legitimacy. Yours truly became the 151st member of said group last night, but there really aren't many Katz-as-Batman photoshop offerings to speak of.

I expect the blogosphere to chip in here.

And apparently Cal Nichols, the former ownership group's chairman, is going to stay on board with Katz as the team's NHL governor.

In other words, he's Robin.

The old arena could work as your guest home, Batman, but only once we've revitalized the downtown by moving hockey there.

So when do the playoffs start?

Seriously though, this is a funny idea and I definitely joined the group as well. This idiosyncraticness of hockey fans is one of the great things about the sport.

While he does look like Batman, I still think he look sa lot more like Rob Schneider as "Deuce Bigalow" seen here:

This analogy doesn't work, simply because Wayne was a playboy millionaire. Does no one read comic books anymore?
