Sabres losing bodies
I'm sorry to say it, but the Buffalo Sabres are in big-time trouble and look now to be almost a lock to miss the postseason.
Already without Brian Campbell, who was traded to the Sharks, missing Jaroslav Spacek and Dmitri Kalinin with relatively long-term injuries, and about to lose to Pittsburgh, there's more bad news:
Buffalo Sabres defenceman Nathan Paetsch lay motionless on the ice for several minutes and was helped off the ice after being leveled by an elbow thrown by Pittsburgh’s Georges Laraque early in the second period Wednesday night. It's been a tough, tough year for the Sabres, who may have a heckuva time keeping netminder Ryan Miller from unrestricted free agency in 2009.
Not many teams can put together a playoff push with four defencemen out of the lineup.
