Caps clinch
What a run.Washington ultimately ends up picking up 22 points out of 24 over the final four weeks of the season. Had they fallen two points short of that, they'd be on the outside looking in.
And is anyone picking Ottawa if the Capitals end up drawing the Senators in Round 1?

I've been a Caps fan for over two decades, and one thing has always been true: In the playoffs, experience trumps tallent... Every time.
Great run by the caps! So happy to see them in! Not quite as great a run as Colorado's 15-2-2 (32 of 38pts) last year, but, of course, the caps made it in. Go Caps!
Ah if we only had interlocking playoffs like we did in the 70's we could have a Washington-Calgary first round series. The series would be: (First team hosts)
MTL-NSH
PIT-COL
WAS-CGY
NJD-DAL
DET-PHI
SJS-BOS
MIN-OTT
ANA-NYR
Who would be the favorites in each. Ah dare to dream: Play each team twice in the regular season and Fully interlocked with no reseed so the best teams rise to the topin the playoffs.
Ottawa in four, maybe five.
I'm not so sure about Ottawa's chances. The Caps owned them ALL season and Ovechkin is a man possessed. I don't think Ottawa will be able to contain him or if they do, it will take so much that it will leave the other guys open to score.
I'll be surprized if Ottawa takes even one game.
Looking past the Sens is a bad bad bad idea!!!
"In the playoffs, experience trumps talent... Every time."
Tell that to the 2003 Red Wings or the entire Eastern Conference when the Panthers went to the finals. Stellar goaltending and confidence gets you through the playoffs...every time. Ottawa lacks both.
"Washington in four, maybe five."
Fixed that for ya.
I am glad to see Washington in the mix. I think its great for the NHL and I can't wait to see OV8 in the playoffs. As far as Ottawa's chances...I think they have a better chance then what everyone is saying here. They were deep into the playoffs last year and I think that will be a large benifit. Does anyone know how long Alfredson is going to be out? "Weeks" is pretty vague!
I think that the Caps will be a lot of people's "second team", if you will. Even at the Habs game last night, I heard a couple "Go Caps Go!" and "Hu-et!" shouted out when they showed highlights of the Capitals game during the second intermission.
James, do you mind if I promote my new carpentry business on your site?
