Stanley in the news
Today's front pages
Nothing from Europe quite yet, but I'll add them when they come in from Sveeden. Here's a look at the Canadian and U.S. front pages from today.

Blink and you might miss these ones

Let me know if you saw coverage anywhere else.UPDATE Didn't manage to grab the ones from Sweden, but here's one from Russia with Pavel Datsyuk on it:

Gotta love how the Canadian papers feature - above the fold no less - stories about government handouts to big welfare, er, business.

"How Swede it is"
I'm pretty sure the Sun's over their quota for that headline. Honestly. How many times are they gonna use it?!?
Beaver County Times, huh?
Gotta love that second headline:
"Couple claims Richard Simmons stole their idea"
in the Boston area the game wasn't even on the radio last night. or any night. had to race home from my own game to catch the 3rd period.
I think hockey was big here once, but I can't be certain...
To be fair to the LA Times -- who sent Helene Elliot to the Final -- we have a local team involved in their own little professional sports tournament.
Also, our hockey team seems to have left town sometime in the 90s.
doogie ... I heard about this just this evening. Abominable. HNIC needs to swallow their pride and pony up. It's all about not doing business with someone with whom they're in litigation (the writer is suing them for copyright misuse or some such).
Regardless, they've got a tonne of mileage off of that--as has every Canadian who isn't a hermit. Hockey, and Canada's hockey theme, belong together. They're inseparable and it better be there come October.
If you are interested in some Russian press, here you are.
That's Советский Спорт (Sovetskiy Sport) cover with Pavel Datsyuk. It runs "Pasha's Bowl" and Pasha is deminutif word for Pavel in Russian.

Sport-Express didn't place any pictures from SC Final game on it's cover (http://archive.sport-express.ru/pdf/01.pdf), but the lower part of it goes with Dats interview . It runs "Stanley Cup is good but Olympics gold is better!"
