Where Will Gary Roberts Go?

Some sad news brought to us from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and our friends at The Pensblog:
Rick Curran, who represents Roberts — a veritable folk hero in his season-plus with the Penguins — said yesterday that Roberts will continue playing, but not in Pittsburgh.

"He very much enjoyed his time there," Curran said. "But he understands that Ray [Shero, the Penguins' general manager] has a number of items on his agenda that would take priority."
I say "sad news" because Roberts, at 42, became a bit of a star among the Pittsburghers, and WWGRD a slogan for the ages. (I have one of the bracelets sitting on top of my TV.)

You wonder if he'll take that run at being president.

James, any idea on a destination for Roberts? For him to announce his plans to move on from Pittsburgh seems to indicate he wants an increased role and probably isn't going to take much of a discount (if possible).

His short-list of teams always seems to include Toronto and Ottawa....Could this be the year the Sens finally acquire their playoff nemesis?

How about Tampa? We've got "shockingly aggressive" owners now, and I hear Roberts has nice, big yard for camping.

But seriously folks ... (I think the Lightning should put that in front of every press release for the next month) ... the Lightning left wing is the weakest spot on the team, IMHO, and can you think of a better person to put on a line with Stamkos? Talk about experience and mentoring!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be in the corner holding my breath with the rest of the Lightning fan base...

I really don't have a clue. I get the sense he's still looking for a decent paycheck, for whatever reason, so it might be a case of veteran for hire.

Whoever will pay the most, that's where he'll go.
