DiPenta signs in Sweden
Former Anaheim Ducks defenceman Joe DiPenta is off to Sweden, as he's signed a one-year deal with Frolunda of the Elitserien.
DiPenta, Cole Harbour's second-most famous player, was really lost in the shuffle last season in Anaheim after they acquired Mathieu Schneider. After playing in 72 and 76 games in 2005-06 and 2006-07, he played just 23 last year and hardly any minutes.
The Ducks' defence could look quite thin this season if Schneider is traded to free up salary space. Anaheim's currently about $3-million over the $56.7-million cap.

"Thin" is a tough word here, because really, it's a cup-winning blueline less Joe Dipenta and Ric Jackman (alternate sixth d-men), replaced by Steve Montador and possibly a prospect.
Maybe you were talking about how thin it would be after Pronger's inevitable next suspension? That may be true, but I don't think thinness on the blueline is an issue I'm terribly worried about, especially if Niedermayer and Pronger play half the game's minutes.
