More newcomers in Tampa

A couple of these moves have already been out there, but here's the official announcement:
The Tampa Bay Lightning have named Tom Kurvers to the position of assistant general manager, Jim Hammett to the position of director of player personnel and Greg Malone to the position of head professional scout, it was announced today by owners Oren Koules and Len Barrie.
Kurvers was the director of player personnel for the Coyotes, so he has ties to new assistant coach Rick Tocchet. Malone was a scout with the Coyotes and is Lightning forward Ryan Malone's father and a former NHLer.

Hammett was the Rangers head of amateur scouting and spent eight years before that as a scout with the Avalanche. He would also have ties to Tocchet.

The Lightning turfed long-time head scout Jake Goertzen earlier this week.

Tocchet, Wes Walz and Cap Raeder were introduced as head coach Barry Melrose's assistants in a separate announcement today.

I think the Lightning should trade their new AGM for the rights to Scott Niedermayer.

Used to work for Jake's brother Abe (he runs a restaraunt in my hometown). Brought the Stanley Cup there, so I have a soft spot for the guy, but given what the prospect cupboard looks like in Tampa it seems like a reasonable firing.

Tampa is running away in the best hair competition.

1)Melrose - what can you say?
2)Lawton - long and shiny.
3)Hammett - always perfect in a politic kind of way.
4)Barrie - frosted tips.

but thanks to bald Tocchet and comb-over Raeder this competition isn't over. Yet.
