On Batman

Caught the new Batman flick this afternoon. Great show.

Believe it or not, there's actually a hockey-related gag in the movie — although if you don't want me to spoil it, don't read on.

In The Dark Knight, Batman's become so popular that he has a few amateur helpers showing up to fight crime. At one point, one of these crime fighters, tied up at the end of a battle, asks Batman "what's so different between you and us?"

"I'm not wearing hockey pants," he says.

And Heath Ledger will win an Oscar, I'm sure of it, joining Javier Bardem as the second baddie to take the best supporting actor award in a row.

Yeah the line was "I don't wear hockey pads." I agree with you on all counts James; Ledger picked a hell of a movie to be his last.

Fun Batman Hockey Fact: Kyle Turris is amazing! Announcer No. 1 asks Gretzky, "Are you comfortable having a guy on your team who still goes to school with a Batman lunch bag?" Then he pulls out Turris' Batman lunch bag.

If anyone wins anything good for this bat-stinker of a movie, then you'll know the entertainment industry can be bought two ways from sideways. That was the worst bomb I've seen all year, although the marketing hype was annoying enough to catch some kids attention, apparently.

Yeah, both of my kids went to see Batman and loved it. Hype certainly got their attention but now it also paid off unlike The New NHL which promised a lot and gave you nothing.

I think Bettman should get serious consideration to reprise Danny DeVito's Penguin in the next one.

Far and away the best movie I've seen this year. Solid acting by all the cast members, and spectacular work by Ledger.

Yea, teleyawn, I'm so cool that I like to hate on things that pretty much everybody else in the world loves too. There are some plot holes and the hong kong gimmick was mud, but Ledger was god-like. It was almost as good as Begins.

I love Batman. The original one on TV! Pow-wow.

This Dark Knight movie is SOOOOOOOOOO bad I could never recommend it to anyone but movie industry hype marketers. Honestly, the whole question of the infamously bad casting is THE LEAST of its worries! Even casting good actors couldn't save this clunker! 0 out of 5! 8O

Agreed. Dreadful waste of movietime. Blew cash on seeing this movie I'll have to work back. Waste. Maybe that Prick saw another movie I guess.

This is odd - who trolls the comments sections in a hockey blog trying to get people upset about a movie?

That said, anyone who didn't think it was good is trying to hard to be different or just plain nuts.

..pretty much everybody else in the world loves...

Except 50% of the commenters offering an opinion on the movie.

...who trolls the comments sections in a hockey blog trying to get people upset about a movie?

Who trolls the comments section of a hockey blog entry on a cartoon movie trying to defend a movie? Oh wait, you do:

...anyone who didn't think it was good is trying to hard to be different or just plain nuts.

Because being the same as everyone else is what we're aiming for. Myself, I like blonde hair and blue eyes...

Personally, I'm hoping my Batman post turns into a fistfight.

"Original [Batman] on TV"? "Cartoon movie"? Batman didn't originate as a TV show...

Personally I thought the movie was excellent. But those of you calling those who didn't like the movie trolls need to grow up and stop being so narrow-minded. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone likes different things. Just because they don't like something the majority of us liked doesn't mean they're trolling.

I also heard hockey pants, but now I'm not so sure whether it was "pants" or "pads". I guess I'll know for sure after I get the movie on DVD.

saw it last night - he says "hockey Pads" referring to the chest protector the other guy is wearing.

And anyone who didn't like the movie is either being a disingenuous ass or was just stupid for seeing the movie in the first place - what were you expecting - Gone With the Wind?
