Wild sign Nolan

Minnesota has just signed Owen Nolan to a two-year, $5.5-million contract, which is a mighty big ticket for a 36-year-old with a history of injuries.

“Owen Nolan is a true power winger who can score goals, play a physical brand, play either wing and take face-offs,” said Wild GM Doug Risebrough. “We are excited to add a player of his experience and versatility.”

The Wild's off-season has been anything but overwhelming so far, but they're still heavily rumoured in the Brendan Morrison talk.

Wow. I know it's been said about some other signings too but when I saw Nolan signed for two years for $2.75 mil, I assumed that was the total value of the deal.

$5.5 mil for a thirty-six year old with a history of injuries coming off a 32 point season?

What is happening with this league??

... and now Nolan is the last one left. Not Primeau, not Nedved, and certainly not Ricci. The contrast between Jagr and the rest has never been so large as the last few seasons; it seemed certain that he would be the last to go from that memorable draft.
