Design Sanford's mask
The Vancouver Canucks are proud to announce today that fans will be given the opportunity to design goaltender Curtis Sanford’s mask for the 2008-09 season through a contest on Canucks.com.
“We have great fans in Vancouver and I thought this would be the ideal way for them to express themselves in a creative way and to feel part of our team,” said Curtis Sanford. “There are a lot of talented artists in our city and I have no doubt that we will receive a number of innovative and interesting designs. I am looking forward to seeing what Canucks fans come up with.”
A neat idea for fans — but one that might work even better if the blogosphere gets involved. Here's calling on The Pensblog, Puck Daddy and some of the more creative bloggers like B.D. Gallof and Earl Sleek to come up with their own award-winning goalie masks. I'll be happy to post anyone's wacky designs here as long as we can get entries in before the Aug. 25 deadline.
Maybe Sanford ends up with a mask from the blogosphere? That might not look bad on the end of the Canucks' bench.
Here's the template to use. Have at it.

ha!
This will not be pretty.
I'm no photoshopper but considering he never leaves the bench and the contest page claims his nickname is The Sandman, the design should be closed eyes on the forehead part, a pillow on that little plate that goes behind the head, and drool on the chin part.
His mask should feature My Little Pony.
They should design a baseball cap for him. It could be seen 78 games during the season.
Design "rules":
Not OK: Mike Tyson (Emery)
OK: Frank Nitti with machine gun (Niittymaki)
It should feature Redd Foxx from Sandford and Son.
It should just be illustrations of Luongo making saves.
Something that upholds the fine tradition of Vancouver Canucks goaltending... gravestones that read names like Snow, Cloutier, Auld, Weekes, Skudra, Essensa, Brochu, Oullet, Gamble, and Garrett.
leave it alone, he'll never play anyway. or maybe inscribe " for practice only". what has happened to the canucks?
