Vlasic gets extension

San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has signed defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic to a four-year contract extension. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Marc-Edouard is one of the top young defenseman in the game and we are excited to have him in to fold for the next several years,” said Wilson. “He has a tremendous future with this franchise and we look forward to watching his continued development.”

It'll be interesting to see the terms here as young defencemen like Vlasic have been cashing in big time lately. Let me know if you've seen the dollar figures.

UPDATE It's a $12.4-million extension, which means a $3.1-million cap hit.
