Enstrom gets extension

Short of pulling off a blockbuster trade, it's the biggest move Don Waddell could possibly make heading into the season. Tobias Enstrom just signed a 4-year extension with the Thrashers, keeping in an Atlanta uniform through the 2012-13 season.
Enstrom's still not a very well-known name around the league, but he was a stud last season for Atlanta. As a rookie, he played more than 24 minutes a night, finished fifth in team scoring and quarterbacked the power play. He was also over-extended a bit, playing the team's difficult minutes alongside Niclas Havelid.

It'll be interesting to see the financial terms on his new deal, as young defencemen of Enstrom's ilk have been getting big money lately.

stud meaning in this instance, the only defenceman with half an ounce of sense in his head.

Enstrom's the only real D they have unless Havelid and Hainsey return to past form with Anderson after extended doghouse stays (under Hartley and Hitchcock respectively) and injuries; and Bogosian shakes off the sore hip and becomes the star this year that everyone predicts he will be eventually.

1) Wow, can for the first time in a LONG time can use the words 'good' and 'move' in the same sentence in regard to Waddell!

A 175 lb. Dman with 5 career goals on his resume is the best ATL can do?

Doomed franchise.

Yeh 38 points is bad for a 175 lb rookie D in his first year. 33 assists is no good. I mean that is so lame. If you can't tell I'm laying sarcasm down pretty hard.

Keeping him in a Thrashers jersey until 2012? Wow. That is a pretty big leap. What if Thrashers ownership decides to move them north or west before 2012? With ownership issues there getting pretty muddy, then I don't expect to see the Thrashers around soon.
