Penguins make 13 cuts
Thirteen players have been assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 13 players include forwards Kris Beech, Ryan Stone, Adam Henrich, Aaron Boogaard, Tim Wallace, Jonathan Filewich, David Gove and Christopher Minard; defensemen Deryk Engelland, T.J. Kemp, Ben Lovejoy and Joey Mormina; and goaltender David Brown.>> team release

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that they don't need to be down to a 23 man roster until AFTER the two games in Europe. That's what it was for the Kings and Ducks last year. I'd assume this 29 man team will be there for the entire European trip.
Yeah, you know, you're right, although I'd be shocked if it's as high as 29. Given they have a few injuries, everyone could get in, however.

NOTES -- The Penguins will be allowed to carry 24 players, one more than usual, on their roster for their season-opening, two-game series against Ottawa in Sweden Oct. 4-5. Shero said he expects the extra spot to go to a third goaltender, with John Curry the likely choice at this point.
too bad on minard. i like that guy.
Did they switch Paul Bissonnette to forward? He was a d-man in junior (and, as far as I know, in the ECHL and AHL too).
Since I'm feeling far too lazy to go look it up myself: Is Aaron Boogaard any relation to Derek?
