Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that they don't need to be down to a 23 man roster until AFTER the two games in Europe. That's what it was for the Kings and Ducks last year. I'd assume this 29 man team will be there for the entire European trip.

Yeah, you know, you're right, although I'd be shocked if it's as high as 29. Given they have a few injuries, everyone could get in, however.

From bottom of Post-Gazette article:

NOTES -- The Penguins will be allowed to carry 24 players, one more than usual, on their roster for their season-opening, two-game series against Ottawa in Sweden Oct. 4-5. Shero said he expects the extra spot to go to a third goaltender, with John Curry the likely choice at this point.

Did they switch Paul Bissonnette to forward? He was a d-man in junior (and, as far as I know, in the ECHL and AHL too).

Since I'm feeling far too lazy to go look it up myself: Is Aaron Boogaard any relation to Derek?

Yes, it's his brother.
