Schneider kept out of camp
Veteran defenseman Mathieu Schneider, whom the Ducks are desperately trying to trade in order to escape his $5.625 million salary-cap hit, will not be at Honda Center to undergo a standard pre-camp medical exam Friday morning.
“They have said something may be imminent, so there’s no point in coming,” said Pat Morris, Schneider’s agent. “He’s going to stay home through the weekend. Maybe something will get done.”
“We would like to have dealt with this before camp, if possible,” general manager Brian Burke said. “We’ve spent hundreds of man-hours on it, and we took our best shot."

One has to wonder (and I really wish there was an article about this) how Schneider feels about this.
I mean, of course, it is part of the game and he's a veteran player who has seen his share of moves around the league, but still.
Did he expect to be dealt going into the off-season?
How do you react to clearing waivers?
How much longer does he feel he will continue playing after this season?
Schneider is clearly becoming an unwanted guy and you have to wonder what his thoughts on that are.
I think the only reason he's unwanted is because of his bloated salary. The guy's still a decent offensive defenseman. Plus, you have the conspiracy theory of no GM wanting to help Burke in the mix, and this is what you get. Man, the Ducks are a mess right now.
Hmm...a player who can be reasonably important...has a uncomfortably-sized contract...and wasn't picked up with a trade or via wavers....anyone want to wager he gets an offer from a KHL team?
