Selanne signs tryout agreement

I wonder if he'll make the team?

Here's the team release:
Teemu Selanne has signed a PRO TRYOUT AGREEMENT with the Ducks. Negotiations on a new standard player contract between Selanne and the Ducks will continue. The pro tryout agreement allows Selanne to participate in all training camp activities. He is expected to skate with the club tomorrow morning at Anaheim ICE.
Bryan Berard and Jim Dowd with the Flyers, Jeff O'Neill with the 'Canes and Jeff Friesen with the Sharks are four other NHL veterans on tryout contracts. (There may be more I'm missing.)

Needless to say, their situations are a tad different from Selanne's.

Luke Richardson with the Sens, too

S.Niedermayer should pay Teemu's salary (tax free) since he's the root of all contractual problems with Duckies.

unnoticed in all of this is Drew Miller. He's an RFA with the Ducks and although it is expected he'll be signed and around, Anaheim hasn't been able to put his name to a contract yet for cap reasons.
Some reports out of Anaheim indicate that Miller is around, but he's not on the training camp roster, as of yet.
Miller is the younger brother of Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller and is expected to at least spend part of the season with Anaheim.

Did Scottie force them to sign Brendan Morrison for $2.75M? The Ducks' problems are 100% Burke's doing. If he can't fit Selanne in now, he's had months to figure it out.

Six months ago Mirtle's comment box was full of complaints that Neidermayer had given the Ducks an unfair advantage...

The good thing about the comment box is that it's never truly full.

Or something.

or maybe having parts of bertuzzi's contract still counting towards the cap, or having schneider's cap hit against the cap. even fi he goes on re-entry, ducks still ahve to pick up half the salary. buy schneider out, well pay some more burkie

this is all on brian burke's shoulders, bad choice upon bad choice. bad decisions all around.

He did give them an unfair advantage...last year. Now Burke's reaping what he sowed.

And Miller has been signed to a two-year deal.

And for months now we have had people going after Mats Sudin because he has not commited one way or the other which should be his right as an UFA.
But if you mention Niedermayer who had signed deal and made this messy bed by holding out it's not fair to write about it.
For Duck liver's sake he is Canadian!

"buy schneider out"

Too late, if I'm not mistaken. But having cleared waivers, does his salary count against the cap, or just the owner's pocketbook?

Also the cousin of Kip Miller, as well as what seems like 74 other guys who have played for Michigan State.

As for all of the comings and goings in Anaheim, I stand by my view that this sort of frequent churn, even without the attendant cap problems, is the sign of an organization that doesn't have a plan. Burke apparently takes the approach of signing whatever shiny bauble crosses his path, without any thought to what his next move is going to be.

No plan...horrible contracts...Burke is terrible...blah blah blah...

It won them a damn Cup. How many people on this list can say the same for their own team in the past, say, decade?

Another guy on a PRO TRYOUT contract is Petr Nedved with the Rangers...

As for the Ducks, it's getting closer and closer to D-Day for Burke to figure out some kind of trade... I love it!

I'm really quite curious about all the speculation about him going to Toronto next season to be their GM... Do Leafs fans really want their team destroyed? More...
