The other Johnson goes down

The Los Angeles Kings have placed defenseman Jack Johnson on the injured reserve list with a shoulder injury, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Johnson, 21, was injured in the first period of the Kings-San Jose Sharks game last night at STAPLES Center. He is expected to be out of action two to three months because of the injury.

Bad news for the Kings, who were using Johnson as their top minute-munching defenceman in the early going.

Los Angeles claimed Kyle Quincey off of waivers from Detroit to help fill the void, ensuring they still have the youngest defence core in the league.
