Thrashers go captain-less (for now)
The Thrashers have named five alternate captains tonight at a fan rally: Colby Armstrong, Niclas Havelid, Ilya Kovalchuk, Slava Kozlov and Mathieu Schneider.
One member of that group is likely to be named captain down the line.
UPDATE Here's head coach John Anderson on the selections:
"The guys that we had before were good and we wanted to add a couple more. Sometimes if you have the same guys all the time you don't have new thoughts. Not that there were bad thoughts but we wanted to have an influx of new ideas. Colby is a bit of a hard-nosed character and he might not control the room, but when he speaks people listen in the room. And if nobody listens to Mathieu Schneider they're an idiot after the 20 years or so that he's been playing, so he gives us that experience."Fair enough. It'll be interesting to see what Anderson can coax out of this bunch this season.

Do the Thrash set the record for most Europeans named Captain/Alternate?
No. The Sabres have five captains and three of the five are also European.
At what point do they just provide a list of players that teammates are not supposed to listen to?
1) It makes sense, as the team has essentially been without an actual owner or GM for many years either! ; )
