The Eastern Conference
Your early picks
This week's going to be a bit of downtime for the site, but I figure that's as good a time as any to gauge early opinions prior to training camps starting up.
First up, the Eastern Conference, where there appear to be a few clear picks to finish at the bottom but not so many slam dunks.

So, same as last year then?
Are you sure you didn't ask: "What were last year's playoff teams?" by accident, before all the respondents answered?
Capitals > Hurricanes?
Not for me, not with Theodore in the equation...
The Caps are definitely one of the teams I am unsure of, but I put them in there anyways.
I don't know if I'm entirely pleased with the 8 I picked, but this is by no means a final list of mine and it wasn't as interesting as I had hoped.
So you're all safe for now... Bruins, Sabres, Habs, Devils, Penguins, Flyers, Caps and Lightning.
In a week, you all might not be in there!
The same list as last season is boring... but who to drop? I'm not confident that any non-playoff teams improved sufficiently, the shuffling Lightning notwithstanding.
If Washington was good enough to get in last year, after an abysmal start, I think they'll still be good enough this year.
I took Buffalo over Boston, with some consideration to the Hurricanes, and the rest the same. Maybe Saskhab is right and the Rangers will drop out too.
The West will be a tougher call.
Last year, Mirtle had us knuckleheads pick the worst team in the Eastern Conference:

Just to show how inexact this whole approach is, eventual Eastern Conference doormat Tampa Bay only got 2% of the vote. Playoff teams Washington and Boston each got more than 10%. We were pretty spot-on with the Islanders sucking it up, though.
Anyway, it's still fun taking these shots in the dark. Just don't get too worked up over a web poll.
I put in Buffalo, NYR, Boston, and the Capitals, leaving out Carolina and Ottawa.
The Hurricanes are going to be close, but without as many divisional games I had to give the edge to Boston who actually will benefit from that change.
Lots of talk about the Caps but they are #1 tied with PIT,MTL and PHI right now(5000 votes), it's very surprising.
Okay, seriously, who are the couple hundred people who voted for Toronto?
SERIOUSLY.

The Poll would be better if the percentage represented voters who think the team will make the second season, not percentage of total votes cast.
I'm afraid I don't make the poll software, and this stuff is the best available.
Multiply the percentages by eight and you get the number of votes given.
