Kings to name Brown captain

Dustin Brown will be announced as the Kings' new captain tomorrow morning. The Kings are doing a webcast of the announcement on their official website at 10 a.m. The alternate captains will also be announced. I'm still expecting them to be Anze Kopitar and Jarret Stoll, but that's not 100 percent confirmed.
The trend toward young captains continues.

Brown, who turns 24 a few weeks from now, was a popular choice when I ran a poll on picking captains earlier this year and is immensely popular among the Kings' fan base. He broke out last season with 33 goals and 60 points and is signed until 2014 on a pretty reasonable contract.

He was also a stud for Team USA at the world championships last spring and has arrived as a first-line contributer in the mould of someone like Stars captain Brenden Morrow. Brown led the NHL in hits last season and was second in the category in 2006-07.

A good choice by coach Terry Murray.

Thanks for the nod, Mirtle. He deserves the C and I couldn't be happier.

Actually, they named Matt Greene as Assistant Captain. Not Jarret Stoll.

I was just coming over to post the following:

"Matt Greene? Bwuh?"

But it looks like Anonymous beat me to the news.
